The board is structured as follows: Board members serve 3-year terms representing our three geographical regions of northern counties, central area counties, and southern region counties. Each region has three general board members and one board member specifically representing 21st Century Community Learning Centers for a total of four board members per region. Our secretary is elected annually from any region.
Our Vice-President is elected annually as the Vice-President/President-Elect with the specific duty of being the lead planner for our annual conference. Members elect a vice-president for a year as vice president and then bestow them with the honor of being president the following year – a well earned and deserved honor.
The president supports the organization by leading board meetings and being a key advocate on the state level with the support of all members.
The treasurer is selected by the president with the support of the board. The board is also supported by non-voting member advisors made up of the immediate past president, representatives from the Alabama State Department of Education, and representatives from Alabama Expanded Learning Alliance (AELA) - formerly ALACN.
